ICTjob.ph: The Fresh Grad’s Guide to the IT Industry in the Philippines


Information Technology is a tool used in many industries that are trying to develop their systems and operations to make things easier for people to execute things. There are so many jobs to choose from especially now that IT in the Philippines is growing in many sectors. The question is, which of these verticals should you try? This is an important question especially if you’ve just graduated college taking up an IT-related course. If you don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s a step-by-step process on how you can utilize ICTjob.ph to help you start your tech career right after you graduate:


Step 1: Define your current IT skills

What are your strengths and weaknesses? An excellent way to start is to access the ICTjob.ph skill matrix tool. Here, you would be able to see all the available and relevant tech skills you already have. Just simply tick all the relevant boxes on the Development, Systems, or Business Applications Field.


Step 2: Pick the jobs you’re gunning for

It’s a no brainer that your dream company would suddenly hire you out of the blue; you’ve got to do a little research. After defining your skills, the next step would have to be to view these jobs in ICTjob.ph. You can view all available job openings on the website and be able to view each job description for each role. Take note of all the skills you already have and of course — the skills you have yet to learn. You can also take note of all the necessary IT certifications you need to attain for certain roles.


Step 3: Prepare your CV

Like a review of the first step, simply go to the Create your CV link on the ICTjob.ph website and identify all your active and relevant tech skills. With an ICTjob.ph account, you can find jobs by location too. It’s also highly recommended to indicate your professional goals and preferred languages. Upload a soft copy of your CV and make sure to indicate your Availability whether you’re Available Immediately. Tick all the necessary boxes and click Publish My CV at the bottom right of the page.  


Step 5: Check the ICTjob.ph Salary Barometer

In case you’re lacking motivation, you can visit the ICTjob.ph Salary Baromer (found in our Tech Blogs) to check the salary range you can ask for or expect should you get invited to an interview by a tech recruiter. This way, you wouldn’t need to pull out numbers from thin air or settle for way less than what you’re actually worth.
