Pointwest is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a data cleansing engagement using the Talend suite. The candidate shall be using the open-source / community version of Talend to profile and clean accounting and financial data, thereby contributing critical improvements to the organization's financial consolidation and reporting processes.

 

This position can be performed currently from a remote location but may require presence in either a Pointwest delivery center or in one of its clients' offices in the future.

 

Duration: 3 - 6 months

 

Qualifications

 

The engagement requires a relationship role that will only be successful when working collaboratively with business partners across the organization and other IT roles. Excellent soft skills are essential to ensure success. Other required qualifications are:

  • 3+ years' experience in Talend
  • 3+ years' experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) and SQL
  • Experience with data profiling and data cleansing, and should be able to take a statistical approach to data quality analysis
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology
  • Extensive knowledge of ETL and ELT technologies such as SSIS, Talend
  • Ability to work with both filesystem and database storage
  • Ability to comprehend and troubleshoot Ad-hoc SQL queries
  • Good programming skills with programming languages that may be used to extend Talend functionality like Java or Python
  • Knowledge of master data management concepts
  • Knowledge of data governance
  • Bachelor's degree

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with client organizations' lines of business to understand the current state of their financial data and to help the business in prioritizing cleansing requirements
  • Designing and overseeing the technical component of data discovery, data profiling and data quality processes for the cleansing of the organization's Master Data for its SAP FICO and MM modules
  • Profiling Accounting/SAP data to identifying data integrity and lineage issues with existing data
  • Data preparation
  • Data cleansing
  • Creating and updating technical project documentation
