With up to 10,000 expected participants and 15 locations throughout the country, the hackathon is expected to break the current Guinness World Record, which is currently held by the Hajj Hackathon - with 2,950 participants last year in Saudi Arabia.
Impact Hub Manila is hosting the hackathon on October 30 to 31, with around 3,500 participants gathering at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to code in the event. In an interview with GMA News, Ces Rondario, founder of Impact Hub Manila said that “This is a time for better thinking and solutions-finding, and the region and the Philippines can lead in this.”
