Review the company’s mission & vision
It’s no secret that most tech jobs pay well and it’s not far-fetched to assume they’d expect you to actually want to work for their company — not just for the money. It’s like a tech love story in the making; they want you to want them for who they are and not just what they can offer you. Understand their point of view by going through their mission and vision as a company. Doing this may help you use the right keywords in your interview. That’s why if you’re a walk-in applicant, you have to give yourself a few minutes to do a quick Google search with your phone and have at least an idea what industry you’re working for. Never go in unprepared.
Own up to your mistakes
It’s common to build on your strengths and believe you can do the impossible. However, such is not the case all the time. You have to be self-aware (and pretty much honest and humble) to admit your shortcomings. The point is to use the right narrative and stray away from the negativity; focus on how you managed to get yourself out of the problem. For instance, how about explaining your interesting approach to a challenging project you just finished?
